Thursday 31st March...

The difficulties I encountered-
  • Whenever I opened up my animation picture on Inkscape, the background wouldn't appear.
  • Finding an SVG dolphin image on the Internet and how to upload it on my animation picture on Inkscape.
  • I by accidentally deleted the wrong image in my frames folder for my animation.
  • At the start of the assessment task I had no idea of what I could do for my animation using the theme of my house Mercedes.
The way I encountered the difficulties-
  • Mr Cavil showed me how to put the background image of my animation picture, by just dragging it into Inkscape each time I open Inkscape to do my animation.
  • It took me quite a while to find a SVG dolphin image, but I eventually found one in Google, which was a pink colour one but since the image was an SVG I changed the colours of the dolphin to different shades of blue. Sir told me to do the same thing what I did with the background of my animation, which was simply just dragging the image into inkscape and also to create a new layer, so that the dolphin image appears on top of the background not underneath the background.
  • Even though I might have deleted the wrong image of my frame folder in my USB Drive, I had saved the same frame folder into my S Drive at school. So I just simply copy past that image into my USB Drive frame folder as well.
  • I had no idea what I wanted to do for my animation using the house theme Mercedes. So after a lot of consideration an idea came to my mind, since Mercedes is blue. So I decided to have like sort of a magical sea background with a dolphin and letters rising with the dolphin, as the dolphin rised.

Thursday 31st March...

This is my animation. I could have done better on it in my opinion. By adding more things, like different types of effects and sound to it. But I am still pleased with what I have conquered with this animation and hopeful to achieve a good mark.

Tuesday 29th March...

The steps that I went through to compose my animation were:

Making the background for my animation. -inkscape

Creating the dolphin image for my animation the way I wanted it to be. -inkscape

Creating the letters of the word that I am using in my animation. -inkscape

Then basically step by step I had to export everytime the whole image when I move the dolphin and the letters into a folder and numbering each image 1 onwards.

When I had done all my frames, I then put all the images together on movie maker.

Trimmed the timing down of each image to 0.06

Saved as an WMV File

Buying A Digital Camera...

1. Explain what you want the camera for, printing high quality images? showing friends on the internet? quick family snaps? should it be small and easily portable? do you want professional quality shots?
I want a camera for taking images and showing the images to my friends on the Internet. The camera should be small and easy to handle, not to heavy basically portable.

2. What resolution should I look for?
I should look for a camera that has standard VGA resolution clips (640 x 480 pixels). This resolution is in most of the cameras now days.

3. What type of memory is available?
Now days all compact cameras use a memory card to store images. The memory that you would use in a compact camera would be either SD or SDHC (Secure Digital/Secure Digital High Capacity) method, which come in several capacities, such as 2GB, 16GB or 32GB, etc.

4. Find two cameras that would suit your needs, copy their details into this document and explain why they would suit you.
Sony CyberShot DSCTX10P
This camera would suit me because firstly is it a very eye catching camera for girls, it is a hot pink colour camera and secondly the features of this Sony camera are incredible. This camera is waterproof, shockproof, dust-proof and freeze-proof. It is very compatible, excellent for outdoor lifestyle, it is a touch screen camera and this camera can record HD videos.

Samsung SH100
The Samsung SH 100 is a suitable camera for me because there is an option on the camera where I can instantly email, facebook, twitter or any social network site, I can upload my photos that I take at that moment using Wi-Fi Network. This camera is also touch screen and you can edit your photos on this camera using the Samsung special effects feature, which is already installed in the camera.

5. Explain how a card reader would be useful for you to have with the camera
A card reader is a data input device that reads data from a card-shaped storage medium. Card readers are the most efficient way to download your digital memory cards. Card readers plug into your computer via USB port and it allows you to transfer images without using your camera's batteries or dealing with cables.

Buying A Graphics Tablet...

A graphics tablet is an input device used by artists which allows one to draw a picture onto a computer screen without having to utilize a mouse or keyboard. A graphics tablet consists of a flat tablet and some sort of drawing device, usually either a pen or stylus. A graphics tablet may also be referred to as a drawing tablet or drawing pad. Pen and paper were the graphic artists' first tools. But today's web and game graphics designers desire the best tools to use for their work. A graphics tablet can provide graphic artists with more designs, flexibility and creativity.

Pressure Levels- Pressure level refers to the sensitivity to pressure on the surface of the tablet. Most tablets have either 256, 512, or 1024 pressure levels. The pressure-sensitivity can control line thickness, transparency, and/or color. The higher the pressure-sensitivity, the more responsive and natural your tablet will feel and the more control you will have.
This Graphic Tablets pen's pressure is 1, 024 which means that the pressure is very sensitive.

Resolution- The higher the resolution the finer the work will be. If the resolution is low you won't be able to fix very fine mistakes on your work.

The bamboo graphic tablet cost $159.00

Draw vs Paint_olympic rings

With a lot of consideration I decided to use inkscape because inkscape is a draw program where there are separate objects that can be modified individually. The Olympic Rings were quite easy to make on the inkscape program, there wasn't much of any difficulty. I didn't encounter any problems drawing the Olympic Rings they were quite straight forward and it was really easy to interlock the rings you just had to drag the circles on top of each other.

INKSCAPE-
ADVANTAGES-
> You can fix every single detail on your image/object no matter how much you zoom in.
> You can create any kinds of shapes on this program.
> There are a lot of features in this program that you can use on your image/object.
DISADVANTAGES-
> There are quite a few features you might have to go through to get the perfect picture.
> You can't always use images of the Internet and then edit them on inkscape.

PAINT-
ADVANTAGES-
> The program is not that complicated so you can easily draw a simple shape.
> You can edit and re-create images of the Internet.
DISADVANTAGE-
> There are a small range of features on this program.
> The images have individual pixels, they are not objects. So when you zoom in you can see the pixels on the image.

Image File Types

GIF Files-  A GIF FILE is the arrangement and duration of each image in the series of images is specified by control statements within the GIF file.

JPEG Files-  JPEG format is best for compressing photographic images. So if you see a large, colorful image on the Web, it is most likely a JPEG file.

Animated Gif Files- An animated GIF is a graphic file type that is composed of many different images on top of each other. Together these images are compressed and work together, creating movement, and give the appearance of a mini movie. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format.

MPEG Files- Short for Moving Picture Experts Group, the term also refers to the family of digital video compression standards and file formats developed by the group. MPEG generally produces better-quality video than competing formats.

Shockwave Files- The filename extension for Adobe Shockwave Flash animated vector graphics files.

Vector based images generally contain well-defined elements such as curves and shapes of various colors and on the other hand Bitmap-based images, do not rely on mathematical formulas to define their various elements.

Digital Art.....Real Art

A discussion point. “Is digital art a valid form of art?”
Yes, digital art is a valid form of art because it comes from your own mind and your own imagination. Art is not just getting your hands dirty, drawing or getting practical its about your own knowledge and creating what you want to create no matter what way it is. So either way digital art is a valid form art in my opinion.

What are some of the advantages that digital paint and draw programs offer over the traditional methods (canvas and paint).
Some advantages of digital paint and draw programs is that you can undo any mistakes you make on the artwork you paint or draw digitally while on a canvas you can't undo these mistakes because it will stay there permanently because it's not digital. Another advantage is that on digital paint and draw programs you can add many effects on your artwork, like changing many colours, adding fill effects, changing the shape, you can make lines staright or curvy and also you can add 3D effects on it.

What skills must a digital artist possess to create great digital art?
Some skills that a digital artist must posses to create a great digital art is that you should know how to use the paint and draw programs, so that you can establish a great work of digital art. You should now a range of grapic techniques, maybe a bit of experience in using the programs and also making some artowrks on it.

Digital Art.....Real Art

The online application that I used to make this artowork is art pad,  I used art pad because I found it very creative and even though there weren't many tools on this online art pad. You can do abstarct art on it like the one I just did, which is on the left.

Digital Media

Forms Of Digital Media-
  1. mobile phones
  2. television
  3. compact disc
  4. game consoles
  5. computers
What number system is digital data based on?   What two digits are used to code all digital data?
The number system that the digital data is based in is the analog-to-digital converter which is digital signal processing. Mathematical operations can be applied to arbitrary digital information regardless of its interpretation (you can add "2" to the data "65" and interpret the result either as the hexadecimal number "43" or the letter "C").

What is a bit? What is a byte?
A byte is a unit of data that is eightbinary digits long. A byte is the unit most computers use to represent a character such as a letter, number, or typographic symbol (for example, "g", "5", or "?"). A byte can also hold a string of bits that need to be used in some larger unit for application purposes (for example, the stream of bits that constitute a visual image for a program that displays images or the string of bits that constitutes the machine code of a computer program). I got the answer of this question from this website- http://searchstorage.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid5_gci211721,00.html

What is “sampling rate”? Find an image that explains how sampling works (Wikipedia is a good resourcehere…you can place these images in your blog)
The sampling rate defines the number of samples per second taken from a continuous signal to make a
discrete signal.

This is an example of a sampling rate.
 This image is from wikipedia.

How does Colour Depth (Color Depth) or bit depth effect the appearance of an image? Find some images to illustrate the effect.
Colour depth or bit depth is the number of bits used to represent the colour of a single pixel in a bitmapped image or video frame buffer. Colour depth is only one aspect of colour representation , expressing how finely levels of color can be expressed ; the other aspect is how broad a range of colors can be expressed.

Colour depth effects both still and video digital media. Sampling rate only effects video but not still media. Can you explain.
Sampling rate only effects video not still media because the sampling rate is for the number of samples of data taken in one second for each channel of audio being recorded. Still media has no audio nor video so there would obviously be no effect of the sampling rate.
